Impressive wedged heel, calf high boot from Dr Martens! The Samiya consists of a smooth panelled leather upper with neat stitching detail. Lengthy inside zip for ease of use and a studded ankle area for that edgy look! Wedged heel of 6cm Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began in the town of Seeshaupt, Germany (near Munich) in 1945, when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To facilitate walking during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air cushioned sole. By using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to an inventor friend and the rest as they say is history!

I have these in black ad I love them!
They are a flattering mid calf height. As for the width, I have medium to wide calfs and they fit me with my jeans tucked in, there would be room for a wider calf, they are leather so would stretch anyway.
The soles are excellent, good grip, as you'd expect from DM's. The inside zip, goes right down to the bottom of the boot, then curves round slightly, so they are VERY easy to put on and take off (even with your jeans tucked in)!
The heel height is great, they look quite high, but your feet do feel very secure in these, so they dont feel too high when you are wearing them. My only niggle is that its quite a steep instep inside the boot, and not a very soft one either. This is easily solved with some comfy insoles though.
