I read the review of this boot and heard that it ran a bit large. However, I always seem to have varying issues with foot size. One minute I'm 51/2 the next a 6 with no room to spare. So I decided to buy my size 6, thinking I could put insoles and wear thick socks anyway if they turned out too big.
They arrived, and after spending a while lacing them, i stuck my feet in them and found to my surprise that they were perfect- a little roomy but not a whole size too big by any means. The leather is indeed supple and all in all these are wearable straight out of the box.
The one gripe, which lost a star, is that really, these should have been zip-up. The laces are fiddly and come undone unless you double-knot yourself into them- not good if you need to take them off in a hurry.
Very nice boots, well worth the price as they will last ages and these are now officially my Favourite boots.

soft from day one - unheard of with doc marts. I got rid of the ribbon laces instantly and they looked much better. The only thing I don't like about them is that at the back the style of the boot dips and the buckle at the back is not at the right place so I can't do it up...I love the quasi military style.
